GRM has launched an innovative new music rights service in Africa to assist both writers and publishers in direct licensing and collections for their copyrights in one of the fastest-growing music markets in the world.
GRM is the exclusive representative for both SESAC and The Harry Fox Agency in Sub-Saharan Africa with a joint licensing operation with SUISA digital and data administration by MINT digital services, this new company will enable creators to enjoy faster distributions, lower admin costs and access to a broader spectrum of music across the continent.
The Harry Fox Agency (HFA) is the gold standard in mechanical rights management with commercial connectivity worth over 48,000 affiliated publishers, more than 2,500 record labels and several top-tier digital service providers (DSPs).
As a result, HFA administers over 233 million mechanical licenses and distributes hundreds of millions of dollars in annual mechanical royalties for over 100,000 catalogues representing more than 21 million unique musical works.
With its continued growth, HFA remains home to the world’s largest, most authoritative database of musical works linked to recordings.
SESAC represents the public performances of more than 1 million songs on behalf of its 20,000 affiliated songwriters, composers and music publishers, which include familiar names such as Bob Dylan, Neil Diamond, RUSH, Disclosure (PRS), Zac Brown, Mumford & Sons (PRS), Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum, The Avett Brothers, Shirley Caesar, Paul Shaffer and Thompson Square.

The record company has marketed and released many local and international artists since 1972, including the likes of Nickelback, Aaliyah, Kylie Minogue, Prime Circle, Depeche Mode, Janet Jackson, Connell Cruise and Jesse Clegg to name only a select few. With offices in Johannesburg and Cape Town, the record company provides a number of services including distribution, marketing, radio, television promotion, publicity and digital strategy.
The Gresham Studio complex is based in Woodmead (Johannesburg) and hosts two recording studios. The studios have produced the likes of the Grammy award-winning group “Hanson”. GLC acts as an agent on behalf of its clients to administer, negotiate and engage with the many music rights organisations, including but not limited to The South African Music Rights Association (SAMRO), The South African Music Performing Rights Association (SAMPRA) and Gresham Rights Management (GRM).
